Commitment to Research
The Hill Center, whose methodology Oak Hill replicates, is a pioneer in its rigorous attention to research. The Hill Center has documented student gains through extensive testing and analysis for more than 25 years. The results both validate the efficacy of Hill Methodology and inform continual improvement.
A 10-year Research Study was conducted by the independent research organisation RTI, on student progress at the Hill Center. The results of this study indicated that students improved significantly in reading, written language and maths during the time they spent at the Hill Center, improving their skills at a faster rate than would have otherwise been expected.
During the 2005 – 2006 school year, Oak Hill implemented the Hill Methodology Reading Achievement Program (RAP) to assist 29 struggling readers from the International Schools of Geneva and Lausanne. Our three Oak Hill teachers taught students aged from 7 to 11 years old at six different campuses. Independent research, conducted by RTI, shows that the students made significant gains in their comprehensive reading achievement skills during the year they participated in the programme. On average, students moved from the 22nd percentile to the 42nd percentile, an increase equivalent to more than 1 year’s worth of academic growth during this school year.
